Let’s Proclaim Liberty! (Part 1)

EVERY human being yearns to live in freedom. Countries which ones lived under colonial rule, celebrates their independence day so grandly each year because of the joy obtained after many years of sufferings.

Nobody wants to be in slavery. In fact it’s not God’s intention to keep anyone in bondage either. But because of the human’s sin nature, he or she is under the clutches of Satan who constantly keeps them bound to sin, sickness and death.

Anyway, the good news is, we don’t have to be subjected to any kind of bondages if we believe in the finished work of Christ Jesus on the cross. When we put into practice what we read from the Word of God, we too can live in total liberty and set others free.

Lev 25:9-10 MKJV

(9) Then you shall cause the trumpet of the jubilee to sound on the tenth of the seventh month; in the Day of Atonement, the trumpet shall sound throughout all your land.

(10) And you shall make the fiftieth year holy, one year, and proclaim liberty throughout the land to all its inhabitants. It shall be a jubilee to you, and you shall return each man to his possession, and you shall return each man to his family.

The word “Jubilee” comes from the Hebrew word yobel meaning a trumpet or ram’s horn – the Jews proclaim the great Day of Atonement with the blast of a ram’s horn (shofar). Jubilee also means “to move around”. All Jews who sold themselves into slavery or in debt were released from their bonds and given freedom.

Jews still practise the blowing of shofar. It is also practiced in many churches as an act of prophetic declaration of liberty. We can still be released from our bondages – bondage of habitual mistakes or becoming enslaved to a certain type of habit with the help of Jesus Christ who is our atonement. He sacrificially died on our behalf as a penalty of our sin and thus united us with God.

As it is written in Eph 4:8 (When He ascended on high, He lead captivity captive, and gave gifts to men). Yes, I truly believe that Jesus our Messiah who defeated death and has ascended on high will certainly deliver those who are in captivity (slaves to sin etc.) and lead them (march them out as Captain of Host) to be captives/slaves of righteousness in Christ.

Paul wrote: (2Co 5:21 MKJV) For He has made Him (Jesus) who knew no sin, to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

(Rom 6:16 MKJV) Do you not know that to whom you yield yourselves as slaves for obedience, you are slaves to him whom you obey; whether it is of sin to death, or of obedience to righteousness.

(Rom 6:19 MKJV) I speak in the manner of men because of the weakness of your flesh; for as you have yielded your members as slaves to uncleanness, and to lawless act unto lawless act, even so now yield your members as slaves to righteousness unto holiness.

On the Day of Atonement, a momentous once-in-a-lifetime occasion the shofar was blast to declare liberty.

Friends, we don’t have to wait for a particular season or time to act upon God’s word. If we believe who we are in Christ and our position in the Kingdom of God, we should unite our hearts to proclaim liberty throughout the land to all its inhabitants.

Be assured that you have been given the authority by God through Christ to declare freedom over your family, church, city in which you live, community around you and your beloved nation.

It shall be a jubilee to all of us and we shall return to our possession and establish the family unit in righteousness according to the Word of God. NOW is the TIME!!

Let’s declare: “We no longer bound in any kind of slavery or in debt; we were released from bonds and were given freedom in Christ Jesus our deliverer, amen!”
